Autism is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition. Autism Speaks Canada is committed to helping improve the transition to adulthood and employment. Our Community Grant program has funded over $4.8 million to 198 organizations across Canada promoting collaboration and capacity building. In 2019, $40,000 of it was awarded to The Sinneave Family Foundation to create a practical toolkit to help employers build an inclusive workforce. The goal is to increase the odds of successful and sustained employment for autistic adults.
“As an autistic employee, I have experienced many challenges from employers who don’t know how to support an autistic employee. I hope and firmly believe the Success in the Workplace: Strategies from Autistic Employees Toolkit will eliminate many of those challenges by equipping employers with autistic-approved tools suggested by autistic employees themselves. I am confident that these tools will benefit any business or organization who uses them.”
