AUTISM SPEAKS CANADA JOINS CANADIANS IN MOURNING THE DEATH OF JAMES DELOREY
Autism Speaks Canada joins with the autism community across the province of Nova Scotia, the rest of Canada and all over the world in expressing our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of James Delorey, aged 7, who tragically passed away in the early morning of December 8, 2009.
James, who survived two nights lost in a wooded area amid freezing temperatures succumbed to his injuries early Tuesday, several hours after he was airlifted to a hospital in Halifax.
When found in the snow about a kilometre from his home in South Bar, he was unconscious and suffering from severe hypothermia. He was airlifted to IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax.
“Families across Canada, particurlary those with a loved one with an autism spectrum disorder have been deeply touched by this story of James and the community that rallied around his family in the efforts to locate him. We all prayed when he was found that he would make a full recovery and cannot begin to imagine the grief and sadness that this family is facing.
